‘The Bold Type’ Renewed For Season 4 By Freeform

Freeform announced today, as part of the Walt Disney Television Upfronts presentation, that it has picked up a fourth season of the brand-defining series “The Bold Type.” Series stars Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee and Meghann Fahy celebrated with a toast of rosé while making the announcement today in New York. The topical dramedy will continue to highlight the real-world issues faced by the employees of Scarlet Magazine.

While on stage at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy, and Katie Stevens said, “On ‘The Bold Type,’ we play characters who are determined to succeed in the New York fashion media business. We balance careers, friendship and love on the daily. But this show is so important to us and our fans because regardless of who you are, we are all just trying to navigate the mess of our lives. And we are so excited to be coming back for season 4! Here’s to more bold stories, friendship and a whole lot of rosé.”

The series also stars Melora Hardin, Sam Page, Matt Ward and Stephen Conrad Moore. For the upcoming season, Amanda Lasher passes the showrunner baton to Wendy Straker Hauser, who has been with the series since its first season. Matt McGuinness, David Bernad, Ruben Fleischer and Joanna Coles also serve as executive producers. “The Bold Type” is produced by Universal Television in association with Freeform and The District.

‘The Simpsons’ Heads to Freeform Beginning in September

At today’s combined Walt Disney Television Upfront presentation held at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Freeform made several network announcements about its programming.

Freeform welcomes the Simpson family as America’s longest-running sitcom will begin to air on the network starting this September. Viewers will be able to enjoy episodes from all 30 seasons of the dysfunctional and hilarious adventures of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and the array of quirky supporting characters living in the misfit city of Springfield. Currently in its 30th season, “The Simpsons” is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by Matt Groening and developed by James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Sam Simon. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Al Jean are executive producers. Air dates will be announced at a later date.

As previously announced, Freeform is committed to building a female-focused animation block with two projects in development—”Betches” and “Woman World.” “Betches” is executive produced by Emma Roberts (“American Horror Story”), Samantha Fishbein (co-founder of Betches Media), Jordana Abraham (co-founder of Betches Media), Aleen Kuperman (co-founder of Betches Media), Carli Haney, Kesila Childers and Gil Goldschein from Bunim-Murray Productions (“Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” “The Real World”). Rachel Koller (“Lady Bits with Lauren Giraldo”) will write the pilot. “Woman World,” is executive produced by Felicia Day (“The Guild,” “Geek & Sundry”) and written by Aminder Dhaliwal (“Pinky Malinky,” “Close Enough”). The network also began airing Family Guy this past April.

Freeform Renews ‘Siren’ for Third Season

At today’s combined Walt Disney Television Upfront presentation held at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Freeform made several network announcements about its programming.

Siren,” Freeform’s fan-favorite mermaid thriller, has been picked up for a third season. During the first half of its second season, “Siren” ranked as Freeform’s No. 1 show among Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49. The second half of Season 2 will premiere on THURSDAY, JUNE 13, at 8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Freeform. Ben and Maddie are uncertain about the mermaids’ future after the deadly consequences of the attack on the oil rig and, with the mermaids returning to sea, are left feeling lost without Ryn. Once Helen learns she’s not the only one of her kind, she discovers there is a dark side to her people’s past. The series stars Eline Powell, Alex Roe, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun and Rena Owen. “Siren” is executive produced by Eric Wald and Emily Whitesell, who serves as showrunner.

Freeform’s ‘The Bold Type’ Season 3 Premieres Tonight

returns for season three on TUESDAY, APRIL 9, at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST. Picking up right after the heartbreak, romance and uncertainty from the season two finale in Paris, “The Bold Type” is back in New York City where Jane, Kat and Sutton are all dealing with the aftermath of some major decisions. Meanwhile, Scarlet Magazine is undergoing some changes, with new staffers brought on board who bound to ruffle some feathers.

Throughout season three, the trio will continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be young women juggling careers and love lives while embracing their identities. The series also continues to explore important issues, both political and personal, such as workplace harassment, female reproductive rights, data hacking and racial profiling, among others.
