According to Variety.com, the next live-action movie in the works at Disney is “Lilo & Stitch”. The film will be a CG hybrid movie, and Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback will produce the film with Mike Van Waes hired to write the script. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin is co-producing. Lin and Eirich are also producing Disney’s live-action “Aladdin,” due out in May with Will Smith starring.
It’s not clear whether “Lilo & Stitch” will be a standard theatrical release or for Disney’s new streaming service set to launch in 2019.
The original “Lilo” was written and directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders and followed a Hawaiian girl named Lilo and the bond she formed with a destructive blue alien named Stitch. The film grossed a respectable $273 million at the worldwide box office.
