New Incredibles Float Debuts in ‘Paint the Night’ Parade June 23

The fan-favorite “Paint the Night” parade at Disney California Adventure Park gets even more super this June with the addition of a new float inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2.” The epic Parr family and their pal Frozone make their first appearance in this electrifying parade, bringing all of the fun and excitement of “The Incredibles” to life with high-tech, pop-art effects inspired by the mid-century modern style of the films.

Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible and Frozone showcase their super skills as they take on their latest threat, The Underminer. Mr. and Mrs. Incredibles’ teen daughter Violet, along with their sons Dash and Jack-Jack, also showcase their unique powers in surprising new ways, as shown through dynamic and innovative visual technology. Like other elements in this spectacular parade, the new float comes to life through a series of dazzling LED lights, new music elements and more.

The Incredibles float joins “Paint the Night” on June 23, just in time to celebrate the opening of the new film, “Incredibles 2,” in theaters June 15, and the opening of the newly reimagined land of Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure on June 23.

“Paint the Night” recently returned to the Disneyland Resort for Pixar Fest, the limited-time celebration of friendship and beyond, running now through Sept. 3, 2018. “Paint the Night” parade is currently making its way through Disney California Adventure Park with more than 1 million brilliant lights, high-energy music and cutting edge special effects featuring many beloved Disney and Pixar pals.

Fun Facts

  • The dynamic and colorful new float connects both “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2,” picking up where the first film left off and portraying the scene that shows the Parr family banding together against the supervillain known as “The Underminer.”
  • Violet Parr uses her super powers to surround herself with a “force field.” It comes to life through a custom-built persistence-of-vision (POV) globe – the first and largest ever to be installed on a Disney parade float.
  • Incredible and Mrs. Incredible, along with their pal Frozone, light up the night in new super suits. The suits were installed and wired by hand and are fully programmable to be in sync with the music and the float lighting.
  • The super suits, designed by eccentric fashion designer Edna Mode, are illuminated with nearly 100 sheets of flexible, miniature LEDs. This is the first time these light-up suits are being worn by any Disney or Pixar character.
  • The chest logos on the Incredibles’ glowing super suits are made up of 60 individually programmable LEDs.

By the Numbers

  • The Incredibles float is 11 feet wide, 18 feet tall, and 30 feet long.
  • The 13 buildings on the float are created with 123 individual LED panels – only two of which are exactly the same size and shape.
  • Frozone stands nearly 12 feet off the ground on his very own ice trail.
  • Dash’s super-human speed is captured through an innovative system of 64 individually lit frames, flashing as he races in circles around the float.
  • Guests need to keep an eye out for Jack-Jack, as he uses several of his super powers to pop in and out of four different places on the float.
  • The “art wall” around the rear of the float uses 150 fixtures, all exactly nine inches apart, to create the “sine wave” curve effect.
  • The penthouse floor of one of the buildings has 112 individual windows, each with its own miniature LED light source.
  • Nearly 200 individually programmable lights are embedded in the buildings, The Underminer’s drill and Frozone’s ice trail. Custom red lights act as miniature aircraft warning lights on several of the rooftops.

The fan-favorite “Paint the Night” parade returns April 13 for Pixar Fest, this time at Disney California Adventure. And in June, the popular nighttime spectacular adds even more Pixar fun with the addition of a new, high-energy float inspired by “The Incredibles.” Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone will showcase their superhero awesomeness as they take on their newest threat, the Underminer. Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack also showcase their unique powers in surprising new ways, as shown through dynamic and innovative visual technology. Pixar Pier Opens at Disney California Adventure Park June 23

The thrilling new Incredicoaster will anchor Pixar Pier in the new land’s first neighborhood, which is inspired by “The Incredibles.” New character moments, scenes, special effects and an exciting musical score will connect the attraction’s story to “Incredibles 2,” which opens in theaters June 15, 2018. A second neighborhood at Pixar Pier will be inspired by “Toy Story” around the popular Toy Story Mania! attraction. The third new neighborhood will be inspired by “Inside Out” and will feature an “Inside Out” attraction, scheduled to open at a later date. The fourth new neighborhood will celebrate a collection of Pixar stories. Mickey’s Fun Wheel will transform into a newly-themed Pixar attraction, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful sights of Pixar Pier from 24 new gondolas that will feature beloved Pixar pals. The midway games will also be inspired by Pixar characters, including favorites from “A Bug’s Life,” “La Luna” and “WALL·E”.

Additionally, what was formerly Ariel’s Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar will be transformed into a Pixar-themed lounge, offering sparkling views of Paradise Bay and the new Pixar Pier.

First-Ever Pixar Fest Opens April 13 throughout the Disneyland Resort

Pixar Fest will allow guests to celebrate friendship and beyond during this limited-time event, bringing Pixar stories and characters to life like never before. At Disneyland, a new fireworks show, “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular,” will debut with dazzling pyrotechnics, memorable music and a heartwarming story.

The popular parade will bring even more fan-favorite Pixar stories to guests with the addition of three new show elements, including the famous Pixar Lamp and Ball from the Pixar short film, “Luxo Jr.” as well as characters and elements from “Up” and “Inside Out.”

And appearing for the first time at Disney California Adventure, the “Paint the Night” parade will return to delight guests with the parade’s 1.5 million, brilliant LED lights and catchy tunes. In addition to the new Incredibles-themed float, “Paint the Night” parade will spotlight many Pixar stories and include characters from “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Cars.”
