Walt Disney Studios has set release dates for several upcoming films including Jungle Cruise, Maleficent 2, and an untitled Marvel film.
Jungle Cruise which stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will bow into theaters October 11, 2019. The film is based on Disney’s theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of passengers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles, but with a supernatural element.
Maleficent 2 which stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith will hit theaters May 29, 2020.
Also, Disney is moving up the release date of an untitled Marvel film from July 30, 2021, to Feb. 12, 2021. Instead, an untitled live-action Disney movie will open on the July 30 date.

Last week rumors were circulating online that Jingle Cruise, the holiday overlay of the Jungle Cruise attraction, would not be returning to the holiday celebrations at Disneyland park in California or Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
Well, now it seems that rumor was only parlyt true. It has been confirmed that Jingle Cruise will return to Magic Kingdom this year and run from November 2017 – January 2018. There is still no word from Disneyland if the overlay will return this year as well. We will keep you updated.
After closing for two days due to Hurricane Irma, Walt Disney World reopened its four theme parks and Disney Springs on Tuesday, September 12. Overall the parks faired pretty well, however some attractions were temporarily closed because they sustained some damage from the storm. Since then, almost all of those attractions have reopened except for Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom which needed extensive maintenance and cleanup.
Crews have been hard at work the past couple weeks, and it appears that as of today, September 21, the attraction has reopened. According to My Disney Experience, the attraction has a posted 30 minute wait time at 10am .

Last week it was announced Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be starring in Disney’s upcoming live-action Jungle Cruise movie based on the Disney theme park attraction. Now, new information seems to indicate Johnson’s skipper role will stretch all the way to the Disney Parks.
According to a recent Instagram post from the actor, he will also be working with Walt Disney Imagineering to “re-engineer and re-design the Jungle Cruise ride in all the Disney theme parks around the world.” Johnson goes on to say he was at Disney Research and Development facilities for a creative meeting.
Disney has not made any official announcement confirming this and even though this news sounds a little strange , everything points to it being legit. I do love “The Rock” and think he will be amazing in the movie, however my concern is adding elements from the movie to this beloved attraction when we have no idea if the movie will even be good. I mean, can you imagine if they added elements from Eddie Murphy’s “The Haunted Mansion” film to the attraction? Yikes!
So, what are your initial thoughts on this revamp? Would you look forward to some changes on the ride or just leave it as it is? Let us know in the comments below!
