‘Hocus Pocus’ 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Coming This September

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film Hocus Pocus, Walt Disney Studios will release a special 25th anniversary  Blu-ray and digital edition on September 4, 2018.

Bette Midler joins Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three outlandishly wild witches who return from 17th Century Salem for a night of zany fun and comic chaos.

After they’re accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters, the tricky 300-year-old trio sets out to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth but first they must outwit three feisty kids who are determined to foil their scheme! Loaded with bewitching laughs and magical special effects, Hocus Pocus is an outrageoous comedy that’s sure to entertain the whole family.

The Blu-ray includes the original theatrical film and the “We Love Hocus Pocus: Trivia and Treats Edition,” featuring pop-up factoids, trivia, deleted scenes, concept art, filmmaker commentary and behind-the-scenes secrets. The Blu-ray also includes the original 1993 production featurette.

‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel in the Works at Disney Channel

Hocus Pocus was originally released in 1993 and quickly became a cult classic among fans.  The original film starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy followed the story of three villainous witches who are  resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts. The original movie credited David Kirschner as producer and Kenny Ortega as director.

We are now hearing talks that a Hocus Pocus sequel may be in development at the Disney Channel.  The made for TV movie  would have a new cast and director, however Kirschner would return as executive producer.  Mick Garris, who co-wrote the original Hocus Pocus, hinted of the project during a recent interview with Forbes magazine.
