During D23 Expo Japan, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, announced Epcot’s new highly anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction will indeed be a roller coaster – in fact, it will be one of the world’s largest enclosed roller coasters. It’ll also feature a unique story currently being created by Walt Disney Imagineering and include a new innovative ride system that’s guaranteed to “wow” guests.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ coaster will be located in Future World and is said to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
Details are scarce on this one, BUT Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, shared at the D23 Expo that your favorite Super Heroes are coming to Disney California Adventure park. Soon, the Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers in what will become a completely immersive Super Hero universe at the park.
These new stories will build around Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! and create a place where you can team up with your favorite Super Heroes like never before.
The news is just streaming in from the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts presentation at the D23 Expo 2017. Epcot will be receiving two new attractions!
The first will be a “Guardians of the Galaxy”-inspired attraction located in Future World. According to Disney, Epcot’s brand new E-ticket attraction will be based on the rockin’ and action-packed world of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and is the next step in how guests can encounter these characters at the Walt Disney World Resort. Epcot just may be the perfect place for a “Guardians”-inspired attraction as you can see in the photo above – Peter Quill (aka Star Lord) actually visited Epcot as a kid!
The Universe of Energy attraction will close August 13, 2017 to make way for this new project.
Next, Disney•Pixar’s “Ratatouille”-inspired attraction will also be added to the France Pavilion in World Showcase. The attraction will expand the pavilion. Similar to the 4-D attraction Ratatouille: The Adventure that opened at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2014, guests will be able to shrink to Remy’s size and scurry to safety in a dazzling chase across a kitchen with the sights, sounds and smells of Gusteau’s legendary Parisian restaurant.
According to Disney, both attractions will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
How would you like to meet Star-Lord and Groot from the new film “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2”? Well, you can now meet these popular characters inside the Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
