New Incredibles Float Debuts in ‘Paint the Night’ Parade June 23

The fan-favorite “Paint the Night” parade at Disney California Adventure Park gets even more super this June with the addition of a new float inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2.” The epic Parr family and their pal Frozone make their first appearance in this electrifying parade, bringing all of the fun and excitement of “The Incredibles” to life with high-tech, pop-art effects inspired by the mid-century modern style of the films.

Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible and Frozone showcase their super skills as they take on their latest threat, The Underminer. Mr. and Mrs. Incredibles’ teen daughter Violet, along with their sons Dash and Jack-Jack, also showcase their unique powers in surprising new ways, as shown through dynamic and innovative visual technology. Like other elements in this spectacular parade, the new float comes to life through a series of dazzling LED lights, new music elements and more.

The Incredibles float joins “Paint the Night” on June 23, just in time to celebrate the opening of the new film, “Incredibles 2,” in theaters June 15, and the opening of the newly reimagined land of Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure on June 23.

“Paint the Night” recently returned to the Disneyland Resort for Pixar Fest, the limited-time celebration of friendship and beyond, running now through Sept. 3, 2018. “Paint the Night” parade is currently making its way through Disney California Adventure Park with more than 1 million brilliant lights, high-energy music and cutting edge special effects featuring many beloved Disney and Pixar pals.

Fun Facts

  • The dynamic and colorful new float connects both “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2,” picking up where the first film left off and portraying the scene that shows the Parr family banding together against the supervillain known as “The Underminer.”
  • Violet Parr uses her super powers to surround herself with a “force field.” It comes to life through a custom-built persistence-of-vision (POV) globe – the first and largest ever to be installed on a Disney parade float.
  • Incredible and Mrs. Incredible, along with their pal Frozone, light up the night in new super suits. The suits were installed and wired by hand and are fully programmable to be in sync with the music and the float lighting.
  • The super suits, designed by eccentric fashion designer Edna Mode, are illuminated with nearly 100 sheets of flexible, miniature LEDs. This is the first time these light-up suits are being worn by any Disney or Pixar character.
  • The chest logos on the Incredibles’ glowing super suits are made up of 60 individually programmable LEDs.

By the Numbers

  • The Incredibles float is 11 feet wide, 18 feet tall, and 30 feet long.
  • The 13 buildings on the float are created with 123 individual LED panels – only two of which are exactly the same size and shape.
  • Frozone stands nearly 12 feet off the ground on his very own ice trail.
  • Dash’s super-human speed is captured through an innovative system of 64 individually lit frames, flashing as he races in circles around the float.
  • Guests need to keep an eye out for Jack-Jack, as he uses several of his super powers to pop in and out of four different places on the float.
  • The “art wall” around the rear of the float uses 150 fixtures, all exactly nine inches apart, to create the “sine wave” curve effect.
  • The penthouse floor of one of the buildings has 112 individual windows, each with its own miniature LED light source.
  • Nearly 200 individually programmable lights are embedded in the buildings, The Underminer’s drill and Frozone’s ice trail. Custom red lights act as miniature aircraft warning lights on several of the rooftops.

‘Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings’ Returns to Freeform With All-New Episodes Premiering June 11

“Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” returns for a six-episode series on MONDAY, JUNE 11 (8:00 p.m. EDT), with eleven new couples, surprise musical performances, unexpected appearances, captivating celebrations, and of course, lots of Disney magic. From epic hidden camera engagements to romantic fairy tale weddings, each episode will showcase enchanting stories and spectacular settings from Disney destinations around the globe. Hosted by real-life couple Stephen “tWitch” Boss (“The Ellen Show”) and Allison Holker (“Dancing with the Stars”), the series goes inside the intimate plans of each couple as they celebrate their unique love stories with the help of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons.

With stunning venues at the Walt Disney World Resort; Disneyland Resort; Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa; on Disney Cruise Line ships and more hosting these momentous occasions, each celebration is meticulously planned with heartfelt detail and unforgettable moments for each couple. Two special couples have stories that tie them to stunning musical performances by superstar Olivia Newton-John and country music sensation Hunter Hayes. And, a sports-obsessed couple gets the opportunity of a lifetime when the NHL’s Stanley Cup, one of the most iconic and oldest trophies in professional sports, makes a rare appearance at their reception.

With a career spanning over five decades and more than 100 million albums sold, Newton-John’s successes include four GRAMMYs®, an Emmy®, numerous music awards and more than 15 top 10 singles. Her co-starring role in “Grease” catapulted her into super-stardom and, to date, remains the most successful movie musical of all time. In 1992, and again in 2017, Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer, a cause very near and dear to one “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” couple. Her personal journey with cancer led her to announce her partnership with Austin Health and the creation of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre (ONJCWRC). After nearly ten years of fundraising for $200 million, the ONJCWRC opened its doors in 2012. The Centre provides a comprehensive range of services and facilities for cancer treatment, education, training and research as well as a dedicated wellness center (ONJCancerCentre.org).

Multi-platinum recording artist Hunter Hayes has accumulated over 40 award nominations and wins, including five GRAMMY nominations. His hit single “Wanted” became his first No. 1 single on the country airplay charts and solidified the multi-instrumentalist as the youngest solo male artist to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in over 40 years. Chosen as the first-dance song for a newly wedded couple, Hayes surprises a completely shocked bride and groom with a live performance of “Wanted” at their wedding reception at Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
