Reese Witherspoon Officially Opens Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs

 

Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon, along with Mickey Mouse, recently hosted the ribbon cutting ceremony for Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs.

While at Walt Disney World Resort, Reese and her family also took time for an early birthday celebration.

Cars 3 Tour to Kick Off at Disney Springs this Week

 

“Cars” is celebrating the summer release of its third film installment with a nationwide tour which kicks off March 23-26, 2017 at Disney Springs Marketplace.  “Road to the Races” will provide family fun activities, a sneak peek of the film itself, and fun photo opportunities with three life-size character cars.

Many other activities will be on hand including: Alamo Rent A Car will sponsor a giant color mural; Coppertone will encourage guests to take part in a racer pit crew tire-changing activity and a fun photo opportunity; Crest and Oral-B will pass out prizes from the Piston Cup prize wheel, and will offer fans the chance to create a digital postcard with Lightning McQueen; at the Dole Refueling Station, you can sample high-octane smoothies; Mattel plans to present an interactive play area; and NASCAR will be on hand to share the history and science behind their iconic brand.

Additionally, guests should be on the lookout for “Cars” merchandise, special food items at select food and beverage locations, and a DJ dance party.

The tour, located at Disney Springs in the former Marketplace Bus Loop near Once Upon A Toy, opens to the public on Thursday, March 23 at 12:00 p.m. and will run until 7:00 p.m. that evening. On Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, join the fun from 11 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. And on the final day, Sunday, March 26, guests can enjoy the experience from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Universal Orlando Files Plans to Build Seventh Hotel

 

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Universal Orlando has filed plans with the city for a hotel development at the former site of Wet ‘n Wild water park which closed this past December. The plans also show the addition of 3 new parking structures.

Universal Orlando Resort continues to expand with the opening of its third gate, Volcano Bay on May 25, two new towers at Cabana Bay Beach Resort scheduled to open later this year, and the construction of its sixth hotel, Aventura which is slated to open in the summer of 2018

Universal has not made an announcement regarding the filed plans at this time.

Construction to Begin on Third Parking Garage at Disney Springs

 

 

Construction is about to begin on Disney Springs’ third parking garage.  When completed, the new garage will accommodate 3,000 parking spaces and feature the same parking technology used in the orange and lime garages which indicates  what parking spaces are available on each level and row.

The garage will be located across Buena Vista Drive and access to Disney Springs will be via a new pedestrian bridge.

According to WDW Magic, construction will begin on April 1, 2017 and is expected to open in 2019.
