Woody Arrives in Toy Story Land at Walt Disney World Resort

We are inching closer to Toy Story Land’s official debut set to take place on June 30, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.  Today Disney Imagineers celebrated a milestone with the entrance marquee starring everyone’s favorite cowboy, Woody.

Standing nearly 20 feet tall, Woody will appear as a part of the new Toy Story Land marquee, which sits just in front of one of the land’s most anticipated attractions, the Slinky Dog Dash coaster. He’s tipping his hat (which measures 7’ feet, brim to brim!), next to the marquee, which is made out of blocks and a 4-foot-tall yo-yo – just a few of the many toys that make up Toy Story Land.

When Toy Story Land opens, guests will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in on the fun Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Andy’s other beloved toys are having in Andy’s backyard. Here, guests can ride Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit, take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, grab a tasty snack at Woody’s Lunchbox – and meet some of the characters from “Toy Story” films!

Pandora Utility Suit Officially Debuts At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Today

A 4.2-ton, towering mechanical suit debuted today at Pandora – The World of Avatar to coincide with Disney’s Animal Kingdom 20th anniversary celebration. The new Pandora Utility Suit is inspired by the iconic Amplified Mobility Platform (AMP) suits of power armor from the epic film AVATAR.

Perched ten feet high, a human pilot straps into the cockpit of this exo-carrier and controls its powerful, yet agile movements. The giant walking suit was designed with articulated hands and a shoulder span of more than five feet. It also bears claw marks and battle scars from a Thanator – an alpha predator on Pandora.

But the Pandora Utility Suit was actually designed for restoration, while the film’s AMP suits were created for infantry missions of destruction. Its streamlined structure and technical upgrades make it the perfect tool to collect plant samples, study flora and survive Pandora’s wild terrain.

Check out the suit in action below:

Like all the lands at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Pandora is rooted in nature and the Pandora Utility Suit showcases that in dramatic fashion. As the suit’s pilot traverses the land daily, he’ll interact with guests, sharing details about the land’s otherworldly landscape, and highlight the importance of preserving nature. Check out the video above to hear what guests have to say about this amazing addition the Pandora.

The Utility Suit pilot in Pandora – The World of Avatar appears daily. Be sure to check the Times Guide or the My Disney Experience App the day of your visit for the latest information.
