Beginning tomorrow July 18, Mobile Order, the service which allows guests the convenience of ordering and paying for meals on-the-go within the My Disney Experience App, will be available at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom.
In case you aren’t familiar, Mobile Order offers a huge convenience to park guests. Using the app, guests can select menu items, customize their order and pre-pay for their meal. When they arrive at the restaurant they can tap the “I’m here” button in the app, which will notify the kitchen to prepare the meal. When ready, guests will be alerted through the app to pick up their meal at a designated window.
Additional quick-service restaurants in Magic Kingdom who will also receive Mobile Order this summer include, Pinocchio Village Haus, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café, and Columbia Harbor House. Tomorrowland Terrace started using the system last week.
Please note Mobile Orders can only accept credit cards for payment right now and not the Disney Dining Plan. Also, the service is not currently able to offer Annual Passholder or Tables in Wonderland discounts. These discounts can only be applied at the counter.
Disney fans attending the D23 Expo this weekend were treated to a nice surprise when Fantasmic! returned to Disneyland park Saturday night ahead of its scheduled reopening on July 17. The nighttime spectacular wowed guests with newly added scenes and technical enhancements to the show.
Guests will notice new magic is incorporated with Aladdin and Jasmine floating over a bed of fog on their flying carpet, Captain Jack Sparrow at the helm of a ghostly pirate ship, and special new appearances by characters from “The Lion King” and “Finding Nemo.” And Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from “Tangled” join other Disney couples in an inspiring romantic sequence.
Additional enhancements give the popular show an even brighter look, with more vibrant projections and new mist screens. Every inch of every surface on the show’s island “stage” has been digitally mapped. Projection mapping and three-dimensional video combine, allowing the creative team to transform the island as never before. All technical elements of the show, including lighting, fountains and water screens, have been upgraded.
Additional Rivers of America attractions including The Disneyland Railroad, Pirates’ Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, and the watercraft that sail around the Rivers of America in Frontierland, Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia, Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes, all return on July 29, 2017.
One of the new additions announced for Walt Disney World Resort during the D23 Expo is… a new theater is coming to Magic Kingdom!
The live entertainment venue will be located right off Main Street U.S.A. and be based on the iconic Willis Wood theater in 1920s Kansas City, where Walt lived after he left Marceline. And as you can see above, it’ll fit well into Main Street, U.S.A.
“Across Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we’ve been upping the game in Entertainment with shows like Frozen Live at the Hyperion,” Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts said. “It’s been a huge hit at the Disneyland Resort, and I’m sure many of you have seen it. This new theater at Walt Disney World continues that streak by bringing a new venue for world-class entertainment to the world’s biggest park.”
Disneyland Resort will be getting a much bigger Pixar presence in the near future. During the D23 Expo, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, announced some big changes are coming in 2018.
First, Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure park will become Pixar Pier next summer. This area adjacent to the “World of Color” lagoon, will take on a brand-new look as more favorite Pixar characters and stories come to life on the seaside waterfront, from “The Incredibles,” “Inside Out” and even more “Toy Story.”
Next Pixar Fest, a limited-time, all-things Pixar celebration will launch at the Disneyland Resort in 2018. The celebration will include a new fireworks spectacular, as well as special characters and entertainment experiences. As part of the celebration, Pixar Play Parade will return to the resort, this time in Disneyland Park, and fan-favorite, Paint the Night, will move to Disney California Adventure Park, which has one of Disney’s longest parade routes.
