It’s official! Disney will begin working on a gondola transportation system that will shuttle guests between some of its theme parks and resorts. The rumors have been circulating for the last few months but were confirmed today by documents obtained from the Disney-controlled Reedy Creek Improvement District.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the plans indicate six stations with three lines that would link Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century and Art of Animation Resort. Each cab would likely be enclosed and hold 10 passengers.
It seems Doppelmayr, a European manufacturer who describes themselves as the world’s leading builder of ropeways, cable cars, and ski lifts, will be the gondola vendor.
Disney has not yet commented on the gondola transportation system, but did release the following statement, “We are always looking to explore new transportation options that will make the resort experience even more magical for guests. We’re excited about our future plans on this front and look forward to sharing details at a later date.”
